Welcome to Merlot & Moodboards, a little corner of the internet that's all about Canadian family life, the stuff you actually put in your home, the style that fits real life, and the finds worth talking about. No fluff, no filters. Just a real Ontario mom who has been around the block a few times (and has the baby photos, the teenager receipts, and the hard-won patio furniture to prove it).
I started this blog because I kept noticing that so much of the "family lifestyle" content out there just doesn't speak to us. Canadian families shop differently, live differently, and have very different priorities than what you see coming out of American blogs and Instagram accounts. We have actual winters. We have Costco Canada hauls that are a completely different experience from the ones going viral south of the border. We have a way of doing home and family life that deserves its own space. So here we are.
The Short Version (for the busy moms)
I'm an Ontario mom who has done every stage of the parenting journey. Babies, toddlers, school-age kids, teenagers, and everything in between. I've set up nurseries and helped pack up bedrooms for university. I've done the sleepless newborn nights and the "why is it suddenly 2am and I'm waiting up" teenage nights. I've made every version of a family home work, from small starter houses to bigger spaces, always trying to make it feel warm, lived-in, and actually ours.
That experience is basically what this whole blog is built on. Not theory. Not perfectly staged tablescapes. Real family life, real Canadian shopping finds, real home decisions made on real budgets with real kids running through the background.

Why Canada First?
Honestly? Because I got tired of clicking on product recommendations that either don't ship here, cost twice as much to get here, or are just not available at any Canadian retailer. It's a special kind of frustrating when you've been reading a whole article only to find out at the end that none of it applies to you.
My focus is always on what's accessible to Canadian families first. That means Canadian retailers, Canadian prices, and seasonal content that reflects the fact that we have a May long weekend, a Civic Holiday, and winters that deserve their own blog category entirely. Every now and then I'll feature something from a US retailer too, but only when it's actually available and shippable to Canada. No dead ends. No "sorry, we don't ship to your region." Promise.
